Sign up to volunteer at one of our student-run clinics, which provide superior health care in a compassionate manner, ever mindful of each patient's dignity and individuality.
Volunteer Requirements
Preceptors
Must be present for clinic to operate. Preceptors are fully licensed physicians (Faculty, Fellows, and Chief Residents*) from the University of Chicago, NorthShore Endeavor, or employed by UCM Medical Group, Inc. They work with medical student volunteers to serve our free clinic patients.
* Resident physicians are not fully-independently licensed and are not able to serve as preceptors.
Malpractice Coverage
Volunteer medical services provided at the clinics are not covered by The University of Chicago Medical Center Malpractice Trust or coverage provided through the UCM Medical Group. However, all providers who render care to patients in a free clinic are immune from liability for anything other than willful and wanton misconduct pursuant to the Illinois Good Samaritan Act (GSA). Physicians should notify their insurer to notify them of their intention to volunteer at these clinics.
Medical Students
Pritzker Medical students are eligible to volunteer within their scope of practice (document onsite at clinics that details students competencies based on where they are in the curriculum) under the supervision of Preceptors.
Residents
Eligible to volunteer, but do not qualify as a preceptor, as they are not yet fully-independently licensed yet.

Each shift will have one of the following colors:
- Red: The shift is in need of a preceptor volunteer.
- Blue: You have signed up for the shift.
- Grey: The shift is either fully staffed, has occurred in the past, or has been cancelled.
